Chifeng University is a general institution of higher education approved by the Ministry of Education and was established with the merger of five institutions in 2003, which provides multidisciplinary undergraduate courses. The university is located in the birthplace of famous “Hongshan Culture”- Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. Chifeng City is an outstanding tourism city in China with prolonged history, pleasant air, beautiful scenery, unique natural landscape, rich humanistic resources and cultural deposits. It is the closest grassland to Beijing where Inner Mongolia、Liaoning and Hebei provinces meet.

The university has a sound education and teaching management system and is equipped with the departments of Party affairs, administration, teaching support, logistics etc. With 24 teaching schools, the university offers 48 undergraduate programs and some higher vocational programs, covering the 10 disciplines of literature, history, science of law, pedagogy, natural science, engineering, agronomy, medical science, management and arts, and it owns the master degree program of “Cultural Relics and Museums”. Currently, it has 12,069 full-time students, 7,385 adult education students, 192 international students, and three affiliated units – the affiliated hospital of Chifeng University, the second affiliated hospital of Chifeng University and the affiliated middle school of Chifeng University.

The university has well experienced faculty. At present, it has 1,012 full-time teachers, among whom 160 are professors, 375 assistant professors, 32 postgraduate supervisors, 101 with a doctorate and 486 with a master’s degree, and the teachers with a master’s degree or a higher degree account for 57.9% of the total number of full-time teachers.And 77.8% of teachers who teaches Chinese as a foreign language are postgraduates.

The university covers a floor area of 780mu, a planned floor area of 1,800mu and a building area of 230,000m2, with the total value of fixed assets of 0.499 billion Yuan. It has various kinds of professional laboratories, training rooms, computer centers, digital campus networks, gyms, museums, multifunctional halls and other modern teaching and scientific research facilities. The university’s library collects 1,062,000 books and e-books of 7,793.9GB, with eight comprehensive full-text databases. It is a member library of China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS) and a member unit of China Academic Social Science and Humanities Library (CASHL).

To adapt to the development trend of internationalization of higher education, the university actively carries out international student education and applies for Sino-foreign cooperation education programs. At present, it has conducted cooperation in running school with South Korea, the UK, the USA, Sweden, Japan, Germany etc, making full advantage of high-quality educational resources at home and abroad to raise its level of internationalization of school-running. I. Forms of Learning and Length of Schooling

1. Degree students: after completing the corresponding courses of the Chinese Language Class, reaching the specified language level and passing the examination, students can apply to study at our general undergraduate schools and departments. Those with qualified results can obtain our university’s graduation certificate and degree certificate.

2. Long-term study: the study time is more than one semester. One academic year is divided into two semesters, and every semester is about four months. There are one-semester classes and four-semester classes offered. Spring semester starts in early March, and autumn semester starts in the middle of September. Every week has 20 class hours (one class hour is 45 minutes).

3. Short-term study: students can join the long-term classes. There are elementary classes, intermediate classes and advanced classes offered. The length of learning is 1-3 months.

The specific time is subject to the Letter of Admission.

II. Teaching Contents

1. Chinese language basic courses: Chinese Language Comprehensive Course (grammar, conversation, and Chinese characters), Listening comprehension Course, Intensive reading course, Conversation Course etc.

2. Free optional courses: Chinese Calligraphy, Taijiquan, Traditional Chinese Painting, Chinese Paper-cutting, Chinese Language Partner etc.

3. Extracurricular activities: visiting Chifeng Museum, spring outing, skiing, thermal spring, historical sites tour etc (random arrangement according to season and free time).

III. Application Time

1. Long-term study: application for spring semester learning ends on December 31st every year; application for autumn semester learning ends on June 30th every year.

2. Short-term study: application is accepted all year round.

IV. Eligibility for Application

Any foreign (overseas) person who is a senior high school graduate or has a higher degree, 18-50 years old (short-term class students can be 16-60 years old) in good health with a reliable source of income and payment capacity is eligible for application.

V. Application Procedure

1. Application documents

1）Chifeng University Application Form for International Students;

2）Scanned copy of photo page in passport;

3）Medical Examination Report;

4）Certificate of No-criminal Record;

5）Resume.

★ Students holding a valid Residence Permit of China do not need medical examination.

2. Admission procedure

1）The university examines and verifies application documents.

2）The university will send the Letter of Admission and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202) to the admitted students.

3）The admitted students go to the embassy/consulate of the People’s Republic of China to apply for the X1 or X2 visa with the Letter of Admission and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202), the Physical Examination Record and the original copy of HIV Examination Sheet.

★ Once visa application is accomplished, the above documents must be kept appropriately for the Residence Permit application after students are enrolled.

3. Enrollment

Students with the Letter of Admission and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202), the original copy of the Physical Examination Record, the original copy of Blood Test and other examination reports and passport will be registered by the university, then finish fee payment, insurance purchasing and other formalities. Those who fails to arrive on schedule for no reason will be disqualified from admission. Those who cannot register on time under special circumstances need to ask the university for leave and can be allowed to register upon approval.
